Bad Science oddish Posted May 24, 2011 Bad Science Report Share Posted May 24, 2011 Have really been needing a place to showcase this stuff I make, so here I go. Nothing too fancy, still figuring out technique and everything. Need to take some better pictures, DSi camera is convenient but not great quality... Dr. Mario viruses Master Key Cutman Yoshi and berry Oddish from Pinball Boulder, Cascade and Thunder badges - working on the entire set Nipper Plant Surfing Pikachu Piranha Plant - need to buy a green pot to stick it in That's pretty much it so far. Everything I have pictures of anyway. I feel like I'm getting the hang of making them though so I want to try a more ambitious project soon. Lots of ideas...
Hanz
Oooh hadn't seen the piranha plant one yet. You need to take pictures of my Fireman, Bombman and Green Biker Dude too....
Frausky
Wow, those are really good actually.
Bad Science oddish Posted May 24, 2011 Author Bad Science Report Share Posted May 24, 2011 Thanks! Praise is motivating... Yeah, realized I didn't have pictures of them. I will take some tomorrow.
Frausky
If I had any sort of artistic ability like that, I would totally make a Calumon one
Bad Science oddish Posted May 24, 2011 Author Bad Science Report Share Posted May 24, 2011 It really doesn't take much artistic ability. Placing the beads is tedious but enjoyable if you like those sort of crafts, learning how to iron them right is tricky though. Calumon would be neat... I have Lopmon in my folder of possible stuff to make. Need to look through more Digimon sprites sometime.
Ego
I like 'em a lot, especially the Piranha Plant and Oddish. It's also nice to see a new topic in the Art forum. I can imagine almost any sprite up to 16-bit would work quite well for this. I can also imagine that not much beyond that would work great though, not without an astounding array of colors and substantial difficulty. Maybe a mockup of an older game would be interesting, like a bead-screenshot of an old NES game. About how thick is each bead(on the sides without the holes)?
sayakon
Years ago I decided to make one of these, just one. I still haven't decided what I want it to be yet. I like the viruses.
Linkmaster30000
I miss Perler Beads... Haven't done anything with them in a looooooong time... Those look really awesome, though. I look forward to seeing more!
Bad Science oddish Posted May 25, 2011 Author Bad Science Report Share Posted May 25, 2011 Thanks guys! Yeah, some people make some really impressive stuff out of these little things. Slowly working my way up... Today I should be finishing up something slightly bigger that I started yesterday, so I'll post pictures if I do. The beads are 0.5 cm thick. Bad Science oddish Posted May 26, 2011 Author Bad Science Report Share Posted May 26, 2011 Okay, some old stuff I made for Hanz about a year ago that I didn't have pictures of before. Can't really tell in photos but the quality of the older ones isn't so good. Green Biker Dude Fireman and Bombman with Cutman. And newer stuff... Fire Flower that I forgot to post before. Wish all of them would iron as nicely as this did... And the thing I was finishing up yesterday, Ultimate Chimera! He kind of gave me a lot of trouble, and a patch of beads warped in the melting, and the position of one of the beads made it not want to join with the others. Frustrating... but I'm still learning. Might have to remake it one day since I'd really like a nice one.
Valentine
Man, every time I see another one, I can't decide which one is my favourite. They're all so very well detailed that I'm partial them all. How do you string your beads together or are you using a craftman's glue of some sort?

These are pretty cool - I would certainly never have the patience to make anything like this.
Bad Science oddish Posted June 9, 2011 Author Bad Science Report Share Posted June 9, 2011 Haven't made anything in a while, busy with other stuff and gets too hot in my room during the summer to work in there. But finally moved my stuff downstairs today and made a little something... Rainbow Badge...
xXShenAkumaXx
These are simply amazing! All of them! My favorite so far is the Chimera for sure :) Cannot wait to see more!
