winston Posted January 13, 2021 Report Share Posted January 13, 2021 (edited) If I had to guess the reasoning behind this, the BotW developers likely decided early on that they were going to use some kind of character creation software to build NPCs from individual components. As it happens, the Mii creation software already existed, and would actually be quite mature by that point, (not as buggy as it was back in, say, 2010) so they wrote a script that maps each individual facial feature in the Mii API to one they had made for Zelda.
